All About Shaun

Shaun may have left this earth, but he forever lives in our hearts and our memories. He has touched our lives and filled our hearts with his kind loving ways, his unique sense of humor, his brilliant mind, and his sweet generous spirit.

Shaun had a God-given talent for making people laugh and for touching those in a way that made them feel special and important. He was a seeker of knowledge and kept his fellow peers and loved ones spellbound with his creative short-stories, his old-man voices, and his endless heart wrenching poems.

Seventeen years was not long enough to have Shaun in our lives, but we know that our separation is only temporary. Our hearts grieve because of the deep love we have for him, but his spirit lives on, and we look forward to a great reunion and an eternity of loving each other, laughing together and continuing to strengthen our relationship. We feel grateful for the time we've had to spend with Shaun and will always remember and feel the influence he
has had on all of us.

Our first Christmas without Shaun was a painful experience and I felt inspired to write a poem in his memory.

Shaun is With Jesus This Christmas

An empty stocking we hang this year
Our hearts are heavy
As we shed many tears
We relive every moment
All the times we shared
Our hearts touched forever by a gift so rare
Shaun is with Jesus this Christmas

Solid in friendship and loved by all
We cherish our memories
As our teardrops fall
A brother, a cousin, a nephew and son
An uncle, a friend
And a mentor to some

Such a beautiful smile
So humorous and smart
Always so giving
Of his sensitive heart
Shaun is with Jesus this Christmas

We'll always remember what a blessing he's been
And will miss him each moment
Until we see him again
No need to question why he was taken so fast
He served his mission
And was called home at last

Shaun graduated with honors from Carpe Diem Collegiate High School in 2007. The Shaun Cover Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in his memory and a $1,000 award is presented to a qualifying recipient every year. It's a great tribute to Shaun for his lifetime of academic achievements, and a wonderful way for him to continue to bless the lives of others. Our Desert Home

We have come to love our home in the desert. Having a pool helps us to enjoy the summer here. Otherwise, we'd be stuck inside most the year! Desert sunrises and sunsets are absolutely gorgeous! We never thought we'd be happy living in Yuma, but the place kind of grows on you and the people are wonderful.
